Korean Escape

Gangwon province is the ideal short holiday destination for many South Koreans. Located only a few hours from its capital Seoul, the province landscapes include beautiful mountains, ski resorts, old forests and an incredible coast filled with local seafood restaurants, beautiful beaches and many surfing spots. Everything is made to attract local tourists from all social backgrounds.

During the covid pandemic, I was not able to leave South Korea for almost two years. Like many South Koreans, I found myself longing for escape and exoticism. Whenever I could not stand being stuck in the city any longer, I would take my camera and drive a few hours just to explore this intriguing province. This mini series is my own personal view of this world within a world, the myth of an ideal escape inside South Korea.
