Green Underground | Chongqing
More from my chongqing work - Since everywhere, the city seems to grow vertically above former mountains, rivers and farm lands. I wanted to have a look beneath the city, below bridges, highways and other urban structure. This led me to some extraordinary places where the nature was claiming back its territory in the city's underground. Here a few images, to be continued.

Architecture in China | Made By Chinese
Made by Chinese | Available in 2014
In 2011 / 2012, I have spent about a year working with a great team of people on a book about Architecture in China. After more than a year of scanning, editing, writing, the book is finally here and it looks incredible !
Its a double volume box with a first book gathering most of the text and some of the photos and another 400 pages book gathering most of my photo work ! It is with great pleasure that I rediscover the photos. Together with journalist Frederic Edelmann and with Urbanist Jeremie Descamps, we travel most of China, from cities to country side to explore the most unique work of architecture made in China. I would like to thanks the gallery Enrico Navarra and especially Sebastien Morreu who did this project possible.
The book will be available in China first and then France and others. Publishing date and launch event will be announce through my website . Here below a few snaps from inside the book. Most of the photo have been shot in large format slides 4x5 and the real prints is really nice to look at !
Some of the work published in the book can be seen on my website here : http://www.timfranco.com/spaces/

Chinese Economy Downturn for the Wall Street Journal
As the production and export is slowly moving south towards South East Asia, lot of chinese cities who once boomed during the export rush in the 90's and 2000 are now struggling to renew their economy and to keep jobs for all its migrant workers. I went down to Yantian near Shenzhen to photograph a story for the Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323527004579079543848190238.html

Jiang Qiong Er, Shang Xia's CEO started as a window designer for Hermes and is now opening her first shop outside China in the center of Paris. I went to her private showroom last week to take a couple of portraits for an article in Le Monde to be published soon. The place was neat and simple, with a tea room where walls were made of dry tea leaves.

Venice Beach
This summer, I spent some time on the US west coast, especially shooting portraits on Venice Beach. The diversity of the people strolling around the walkway amazed me and I wanted to capture that with my old rolleiflex. Unfortunately, the shutter broke and only the first photo of each roll came out. Here are 3 of the 4 photos that came out from those 4 rolls shot on the beach.
